Character recognition
When do you need to know the characters? 50% of the time is when you're reading/recognizing what somebody else has written for you. And most of the other 50% in modern days is when you type them on computer instead of hand writing them, which only requires recognition of correct character spellings.
At Learn Japanese With Anime, you will only learn to "type" Kanji characters and not "hand write" them (Hiragana and Katakana characters are taught both to "hand write" and to "type" them). The reason is simply to teach you more characters in a shorter period of time.
An average Japanese person is said to know about 2,000 Kanji characters and that's including different readings of the same Kanji on top of the meanings. If you're to learn to hand write them, you'll have to memorize how to "produce" them yourself as opposed to just being able to recognize them, which is all it takes in typing (and reading). This approach at Learn Japanese With Anime will be significantly more efficient as you can start using Kanji more often on your own.
You can always learn to hand write them later if you want to, but Learn Japanese With Anime wants you to start reading and typing Japanese as soon as possible, and that's what your focus will be while studying at Learn Japanese With Anime.
