Course 3 starts watching more anime dialogues. Also kanji is introduced starting in Course 3.
Anime Analysis Courses
Anime Analysis courses watch entire anime episodes and try to understand every single line in anime all in Japanese! Students are required to have finished all the previous 3 courses at Learn Japanese With Anime or have had at least one year of college studies. Email learnjapanesewithanime@gmail.com to ask about your situation.
Manga Analysis Courses (Starting in 2011)
Manga Analysis courses are basically the same as Anime Analysis courses. The differences in Manga Analysis courses are, 1. Brand new Japanese Manga books are provided free of charge every time a course starts on new Manga, and 2. Background noises (sounds) are also taught ("Thud", "Hop, hop", etc.).
The requirement for enrollment is the same as for Anime Analysis courses.
An Overview of a Typical Class of
Course 1&2
A typical class starts with
playing a Japanese card game to check the characters learned in the
previous class (different games throughout the course), then reviews
other learning (grammar, vocabulary, numbers, etc.).
Then moves on to "Today's
learning". You will first learn the grammar, put it in use using
different words, and then watch different anime clips where anime
characters
are talking using the same grammar that you just
learned. You will first watch anime at the normal speed and it's slowed
down until it's relatively easy to understand, and then back at the
normal speed again to train your ear (listening to native speakers talk
normally while you know what is being said is a very effective way to
improve your listening skills, on top of the fun of understanding anime
IN JAPANESE!!).
The Japanese characters are
taught both to hand write and to type (only Hiragana and Katakana.
Kanji is only practiced typing. See About Studying
Characters). Each student, in class, gets his/her own computer to
work on characters practice. Your homework will include characters
practice (with the sheets given) and making your own sentences using the grammar you have learned..
An Overview of a
Typical Class of
Courses 3 and above
A class starts with watching a short scene from anime, then you'll start to read/analyze/speak/type/act the scene. You will also make your own dialogues with your classmates to get more conversational practice.
